The city has about thirty thousand inhabitants and is located on the east coast of Spain, between the airports of Alicante and Valencia. Whoever visits Calp will love it. The city is a typical example of mass tourism as it originated in the second half of the last century. The old center, where remains of Moorish rule can still be seen, is surrounded by apartment buildings, shops and restaurants. The concrete semi-high-rise and high-rise buildings nowadays determine the face of Calp, together with the El Peñon de Ifach, the 332-meter-high rock that is emphatically present halfway through Calp. In the summer months, the number of people who sleep in Calp is about two hundred thousand. Yet you never have the feeling that the city is bursting at the seams, because both the beaches and the catering industry have sufficient capacity to handle the enormous amount of tourists. The only thing you will notice is that in the months of July and August it can be quite difficult to find a parking spot in the immediate vicinity of the beaches.
